I just bought a 97 F150 extcab 4x4 with factory am fm cassette deck with 6 disk changer. First does deck have rca jacks? if not how does one go about installing one. Looks like a pain to get into the dash area and i sure dont want to mess up my new (to me) baby. I have installed many stereos and amps in older vehicles but not real up to speed on lingo some of the more experienced people, so please no abbreviations LOL thanks for any help
First off, I'm not positive it they do or not (i dont think that the stock radio would). its not as bad as you might think to get to the back of the radio. the whole center piece there that surrounds it just pops right off. just find a place where you can get a good hold (for me with the tranny in P its right up there by the shifter) and gently (with using mabye alittle bit of them big muscles) pull that off. if you have the electric shift on the fly 4x4 you will need to unplug that so you have some room to work. i ususally dont unplug the airbag deal and just let it hang off to the side. but if you did unplug the airbag deal then it would come completely off. from there the radio will slide out. re-install is pretty simple. its just the exact oppisite of removing everthing!!!

P.S. - dont worry.....i wouldnt know either except my older bros have showed me some of this stuff.
I'm in the same boat. I've got an amp I need to hook up to be able to power my bazooka, & I bought a line output convertor from Best Buy. It lets you splice into speaker level wires to connect RCA connections. The problem is which wires to connect to. I have a wiring diagram, but the speakers show two sets of wires, or four total for each speaker. I'm no expert in reading the diagram, so I'm unsure which ones to splice to. I plan on using the wires for the rear speakers. Any help?
