How the &^&*( do I get the plastic housing off from around the radio? Not that I want to switch the radio, actually I do but it aint in the budget, but being a former govt. truck it has a mount for a motorola inside the plastic radio bezel. I can see the screws it is held on with but cannot for the life of me figure out how to get that dern plastic cover off without breaking it!
Tip the A/C regulators inward (right one turned left, left one turned right) and place your fingers in the openings created (on each side, just outboard of the radio) and pull back. Will be a bit stubborn if never off before. Avoid using tools, as everything in that area is painted.
Caution: If your truck is 4WD, mind the transfer case switch wiring. If you have three hands and the dexterity of a surgeon, you can pull the wiring harness clip off the switch and place the panel anywhere. Not having that dexterity, I use a small socket wrench to unscrew the two bolts that hold the switch to the back of the panel and pull the switch out (which causes the press-on transfer case switch **** to slide off).
