which engine in '63 F100 custom cab?
My father left it in my woods 20 years ago; may have had engine swapped before.... I am making alive, all new hydraulics.
Engine has painted (reddish?) oval tag at front lower right corner that, I swear, says '392' (was a little dirty even after I rubbed it clean). So best I could assume it is 390 engine. THEN, I saw photo (on this site?) of SAME engine and it was identified as '292' or 290, as I recall (its been a week).
Most telling design is the exhaust manifolds stick out away from the sides of the heads and am connected in front by a pipe that goes across the front of engine, above water pump. I don't know if Ford did this on everything. (I used to do a lot of import car work (esp. Volvo) and have an old Dodge Power Wagon 4x4).
So, what's with the 392 becomes 390 becomes 292 and cross-over pipe, exiting on right side? Firing order was a little different than book...

ok I think we can safely say it is a Y block but the crossover was used on all y blocks from 272 on up car truck merc lincoln etc as for the sticker I would pose your ? in the Y block forum I know lincoln used some odd sized Ys
