Replaced Wheel Hub
Here are the steps as indicated in my manual:
- Raise vehicle on a hoist and position suitable safety stands under vehicle. Remove wheel and tire assembly. NOTE: The hub and bearing assembly is not serviceable. If the bearing requires replacement, replace as an assembly.
- Remove disc brake caliper and rotor.
- Remove the three bolts retaining the hub assembly to the steering knuckle.
- Remove the hub assembly.
So before you start with step 1, with the tire on the ground so it won't turn, loosen the axle nut with a 30 mm deep socket.
The three bolts are 13mm and require a 12pt socket.
I used a hub puller try and seperate the hub from the steering knuckle. The hub split in half with half still in the knuckle. It was in real good.
I thought the only way to get it you would be to remove the whole knuckle and pound or press it out. But when I removed the upper ball joint bolt I was able to gain access to the back of the knuckle. I gave it a few good whacks and there was a small opening between the knuckle and remaining part of the wheel hub.
I slipped a chisel in the gap an pried the hub off.
It went together smoothly. Had to put a jack under the knuckle to raise it a bit to put the upper ball joint bolt back on.
Just thought I'd share my adventure.
