"POP" when i stop

I have a 1993 F250 4x4 non turbo. there is a loud popping noise in the front end. when i go into reverse it doesnt do it as bad but when i movr forward and push the brakes it pops in the front end it will only do this once or until i go into reverse again. I thought it was the calipers but it wasn't. i replaced the calipers and pads and rear brake shoes because i originally thought it was coming from the back (wrong again). could anyone tell what the problem might be.

After a ton of miles you will develop some up and down play that can cause the sound you describe.
Just slide under the truck with it sitting on the ground, get a good grip on the caliper, and try to push it up and down.

4x4 250's don't have radius arm bushings, they are front leaf.

Rancherman,
The mount is worn because new calipers will fit the same way. Already had that same problem/thought, calipers are to easy and cheap to change.
And as you should know well, Murphy's Law #F250-PTWO-1 has dictated that the cheap and easy to change part is not the one that wears out.

But if you pull the caliper off and put a couple of small spot welds on the mount, then dress them down with a flat file till the caliper fits without binding, the noise is gone and all works well.
I did mine 5 years ago and the right side is just now starting to get loose again.

yeah i am going to weld mine sometime, just gota get some spare time to pull it apart and do it!
i think we have different ways that our calipers are mounted though,my 92 has that rubber/steel wedge, and yours if i remember from my 84 f-250 has a steel piece that has a small leaf spring that holds tension on the caliper, right?

Nope mine has the same steel/rubber wedges that yours has. Carry spares so when they fall out you have another to drive back in so the caliper is not riding on the inside of the wheel.

It makes a terrible noise when that happens.

could be the front shackle bushings. Have not seen a 10 year old truck yet that didn't need new ones. Be warned. You'll need a press to change them.
