We are installing a 6" lift on my sons 87 B2 this weekend. He wants to put 33 x 12.50's on it.
He bought new rims for it and ordered the 10" rims. Instead they shipped 8" rims. I ran some calculations to see what the clearances would be with the different rims. The tire to wheel well clearance with the 8" rims is only 1.25" whereas the clearance with the 10" rims is 2.25".
Is the 1.25" too close?
The amount of tire that will stick out past the fenders with the 8" rims is 2.25" vs 3.25" with the 10 " rim.
Although I know the extra 2" of track width would be a good thing with this much lift I didn't know if there would be enough suspension travel to allow the fender to come down on the tires or not.
We can probably still send the rims back and get the 10"
Is the 6 inch all suspension? or is it a combo of body and suspension? I have a 86 BII with 4 inch suspension and 3 inch body with 35 X 12.50 X 15 BFG AT's on it. I take it wheeling every weekend..I only have slight inner fender rub and that might be cuz the shocks are toast. You will fine with 33's on it. They will stick out past the fenders some but wont rub. If the lift is all suspension did you get new drive shafts and extended brake lines? 12.5 tires will work better on 10 inch wide rims. here's mine..

It is all suspension lift. Do you know how much clearance you have on the inside? Or do you know the back spacing of your 10" wheels?
I think the ones I have has a backspacing of 3.75" for both the 8" and 10" Wheels.
Yes I have a driveline shop making a new rear drive shaft and they ware going to extend the front drive shaft, and I got new shocks and brake line extensions with the lift kit.
I have pleny of clearence as far as the turning radius. I don't remember what the back spacing was. If I find out I'll post it. Lot's of luck doing it. Hopefully you have a torch, plasma cuttter or plenty of cut off wheels for cutting off the old ribbits and nuts/bolts. Good Luck! let us know how things turn out. I'll be wheeling mine again this weekend. Then again that's all i use it for.
