Pulled to the Gorge
Had the new flash on my 03 with 34,000 miles three weeks ago (only because of hard 2-1 downshifts in the tow/haul mode). 365 mile roundtrip to the Flaming Gorge with 7,400 lb boat via I-80 up the notorious hills known as the "three sisters" with no problem maintaining 70 mph- Could easily have gone faster up the hills but as George H always said: It wouldn't be prudent.
Comfortable temps in the mid 80's. Averaged 11.8 mpg including unloading & loading the boat etc. Interesting fact that the truck does not put out much black smoke, even under load. I use fuel additive Diesel Kleen occasionally and always purchase my fuel from the same Flying J station which has the lowest price and appears to be a very high volume dealer. I could not be more pleased with this truck- Pulls like a Big Dog and rides better than a Cadillac.
