I just bought a '91 Explorer Sport 4x4 5 speed and a few things in the interior are broken. I am going to start calling junk yards for replacement parts, but was wandering what other years and/or models have similar interior parts?? (would make my searching much easier) Much Thanks

The 91-94 Explorers have the same basic interior. I'm guessing one or both handles on the doors (to pull them shut) are busted and the center armrest is broken. These were common problems. The door handles were black on ONLY the 91 models. After that, they matched the interior's color. The armrest is the same on all the years I mentioned. Good luck with your new X

 

my '96 has black door handles inside too. i ran into a problem with part ordering, when i had to get a replacement mirror. the auto shop sent me a mirror for a '97, plug for a '96 is smaller. but the part numbers are identical. also, i learned that some interior/exterior parts are identical for the expedition and explorer. sometimes there is a size issue tho. most parts dealers can tell u if u can use a '91 door handle on a '94 explorer for example. they have more experience with the compatibility of a part. just watch your p's and q's and if u decide to order a part be sure it's returnable!
