Mazda 5spd - shifter pole problems. Need advice
First the plugs were leaking so I replaced them, but when I pulled the shifter rod and pole out the bushings were gone. So I got new bushings.
Now here is the current problem. If you are familiar with the mazda shifter you will know that the shifter is made of two parts. The top section where the **** is and a long rod and then the bottom section that bolts into the top of the trans and has a ball and little shifter fork.
my problem is that the lower part and the upper part of the shifter pole have too much movement. so when I go to shift into first the shifter **** just swings over and hits the dash. I am wondering how much play other people have. I am sure i have way too much. Now how do I fix it? I con't know how the upper and lower rods seperate. The upper is 189 at dealer and the lower is 91.. so 300 bucks for new replacements. JUNK YARDS DONT HAVE THESE!...
anyway, if anyone has a replacement I will buy it... or maybe some suggestions on how much movement should be between the two... JB liquid weld?
