clutch problems

Installed a new clutch in my 1988 F150 about 15k ago. The throwout bearing is starting to squeal. Is there any tricks or problems I should know of before I install another clutch kit. The last clutch installed was a new clutch from NAPA, manufactured by Zoom clutches. The truck has a 300 six and the Mazda 5 speed transmission.

Buy new EVERYTHING. That is pressure plate, clutch disc, pilot bearing or bushing, throwout bearing, and also have the flywheel resurfaced. If the input shaft is worn, you will have problems down the road again. Hopefully it is ok. A clutch should last more than 15K, but not if you use old parts or take shortcuts. If the rear main is leaking, that will shorten it's life too. Torque the bellhousing bolts properly to ensure positive pulling on the tranny. If you take your time, it will be fine. I know it costs more to do it all, but it is a whole lot less than replacing it all the time. Ted

Thanks

The last replacement was everything new, I have never had a failure of a throwout bearing like this before. That's kind of what bothered me.

That's weird. The only thing I could think of that may cause that would be constant pressure on the bearing due to adjustment. I suppose if it was too tight and was constantly riding on it, it would wear prematurely. Ted
