I got a 98 F150 4.6 4R70w trans w/ 8.8 and 85,000 miles on it. I live in the carribean where the temp is always above 80 and the roads are very rough and hilly. I'm doing a complete fluid change on my truck; flushing the brake fluid, transmission including torque converter. I also need to change the fluid in the rear end. I just recently had my bearing changed and they put 85-140 in it with a GM rear additive(haven't figured that one out yet). So i wanted to know which would be better the richmond GL-6 which is a 30w oil i believe or the Royal Purple GL-5 which is a 10w? Both are 75-140.
I do like the redline product but so far I have been unable to find a 75 140 oil they make an 85-140 and a 75 90. I use their water wetter and it works well. One thing I fotgot to add is that I live in the islands. SO the only parts store here is a western auto. I will be ordering this stuff from someone and having it sent by boat to me from miami.

Redline makes a 75w140NS (no slip) that has no friction modifiers in it (but as warm as it is where you are the 80w140 should be fine, right?). I order direct from Redline and receive the stuff in three days (two days last time). Of course in the Islands it would take longer, assuming they ship there (why not, if you can afford the shipping charge).
Actually I just ordered the 75-140 last night from the mechanics site that was posted above. I still had to send it to miami for it to go on a boat to get to me but thats fine. I also ordered some water wetter. I already have the ford friction modifier as well so hopefully Ill be able to change it out in a couple of weeks.
