Ok, I am, in the process of getting this thing going. 300 I6. Well the fuel pump looks fairly new, but it isn't pumping enough fuel I don't think. The truck used to have a 240, but now a 300, so it may have a 240 fuel pump on it, are they interchangable? I read in my Chilton's manual that it has to have 12-15 lbs of fuel pressure, is this right? Seems high to me. I took it off and there was alot of pressure on the bolts as I backed the last one out the pump was pushing itself out, is that normal? The pump pumps by hand ( me pushing the lever, which is VERY hard ) but i'm not sure if it's pumping while in the truck, any tricks to getting it on correctly? Thanks for any help
ok, I think it got her figured out, the pump is fine. I think it's some sediment in the bottom of the tank maybe. She roared to life for about 2 seconds!!!, then the carb backfired pretty big. I had spilt some fuel aroudn the carb when i was priming it, and it flamed up but the nearby fire extingusher solved that.
Bottle feeding the carb. Nice! Yeah, I had the same problem when I got mine going, and gave the neighbors a nice "fireworks show". Hey, they are bored in their houses, so someone has to do something around here
Hehe! Well, at 9:30 after some tinkerin around and workin on a friends project, we came to my place and fired it up. It will run as long as you want it too now, but it doesn't like to idle then get some foot in it or it will spit. It runs smooth as silk, only ran it for about 10 minutes. Glad I havn'ty cut the glasspack off yet or the neightbor would really hate me! 16" glasspack isn't too loud
