Adding CD changer to console - '97 Explorer
- I can't find the wiring harness. Will I need to get that too or is it pre-wired?
- Junkyards are quoting $220-250. Anyone know the OEM pricing?
Thanks!

If you want to get an aftermarket cd changer, I highly suggest going to ebay, u can get a good pioneer 12 or 10 changer for like 150 or less. If you are planning to get subwoofers and an amplifier to hook up ur whole system, email me at chriscu@home.com and I will help you out.
I have a question about a 6 disk cd changer for my 97 Explorer. I found where you had answered some questions for someone and thought
that you might be willing to help me out as well.
I have the factory cassette radio with the cd button for the changer. I purchased a cd changer from a junk yard. It's a Clarion player that was installed at the factory. I went to install it in my Explorer and found that I don't have the wires. I looked at the back of the radio and found that all the outputs were filled.
In the back seat I have another set of volume, scan and memory buttons
for the radio. There was no where to plug in the cd changer and there was no cable.
I went to Autotoys and tried to find a harness. I guess I need the one that has the Y connector to plug what's already in the radio plus the cd changer.
This is a real pain. I thought that I might order the whole unit from
them (Autotoys) and return the parts that I have purchased. If you could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks

I would like to know that everything will plug in correctly!
My installation went well and our 6-CD changer addition is working fine. I think you will need the Y-cable or harness kit. My recommendation is to use the tech support at autotoys since they were able to answer my questions quite well. I have since used them for other things and find them to be a reputable vendor.
Cheers
