Changing out electric fuel pump on 7.3 powerstroke diesel 2000 f250. I have two full tanks of diesel, when I disconnect fuel pump from lines do I have to do anything about diesel flowing out all over or is this not something that happens? Also I wanted to blow air back into tank in case screens are clogged any help on this technique would be greatly appreciated. Help asap please
WOOHAA, you might want to "syphon" (dont know the correct spelling ;P) out that diesel first, other whys those tanks are going to be FREAK'N heavy and if you drop it, i hope you have a large amount of saw dust on hand
You are just going to change the pump anyways, so you have to disconnect the lines anyways....just blow out the lines when you have them disconnected from the pump, so you dont blow what junk is in there back into the tank cuz it will only clog back up were you blew it out from

With tanks full there is not much chance of the fuel stopping. You'll have to plug the line with a bolt or a golf tee or something, that or crimp the rubber portion of the line with some vise-grips.
If you decide to blow back to the tank I suggest you use a low pressure and remove the filler neck caps.
thanks for responding. Fuel did come out 7 gallons worth, then it slowed down and we lifted line and it stopped. Now new fuel pump keeps running, filling bowl and truck still won't start. I keep posting but no answers yet
