Hey guys been awhile but now I have a question. Has anyone tried those "ceramic" brake pads? Good, bad, don't waste the money? I will be doing the front brakes prior to leaving for Colorado and was just curious if any of you have tried these yet. Oh and if they are not all their supposed to be what brand of pad do you buy the most? One more, should I put in new bearings/seals? Explorer has 130K and NO problems. I will have the rotors turned so was thinking about bearings. If I don't change them, is it a good idea to use Redline synthetic bearing grease? I have a can of this and all their other products are great.
Ive been looking into a whole new brake assembly for my 01 Xped, and everyone keeps pointing me to Ceramic. They are supposed to perform better and last longer. Ill know more in a few months, when i really get into the project.
I have been running ceramics for a while now. They will do better, and last under normal driving situations longer than standards. I also run the Powerslot rotors on all 4 tires, so I don't know how much that plays into it also. I changed everything at once, and have since changed the pads again with ceramics.
I would definitley change the bearings and seals. Even though you haven't had any problems after 130,000, why take the chance?!?! It is better to go ahead and do it than have to break it all down again within a few thousand miles.
I have never used the Redline grease, but have heard positive things about it...
