1987 Auto Locking Hub Trouble
Worked on my front brake a couple of weeks ago. New rotors, pads, and bearings. Now the drivers side sounds like it is trying to lock in on its own. It goes from making no noise to a fast clicking sound. If I come to a stop back up a few feet and take off again it stops the clicking sound. Does not do it all the time, seems to do it more after a very slow sharp left hand turn. I took the hub off removed the gear and spring, they looks okay, neither part is broken. I even pulled this side (rotor) back off to make sure it was together correctlty, it is. Is it possible for the wheel bearing grease to build up in the hub over years on make the gears push forward to try to engage the hub?

I have never liked auto hubs, though they don't cause much trouble unless you use them a lot.. A change over to a good set of manual hubs might be a good option...
