stalling

I have a 96 Ranger 4.0 auto 4x4. The other day the truck stalled and would only restart for a minute each time then stall again. It seems to be running fine after about 3 hrs (cooled down). I took it and had it scaned and no codes found. It was a really hot day and the A/C was on. Could it be vapor lock on efi?
Any help would be great.

I really don't think it was vapor lock, I would suggest checking for spark and fuel pressure the next time it happens. I know this doesn't hwlp much now and it will be a pain to do when it happens.

I know it's like finding a needle in a haystack, so far i've replaced the fuel pump relay and will do the filter tomorrow but what ever it is I'm pretty sure it was a heat related problem.

Did you check the coil? they usually act up when hot first before quiting altogether.

no I did not, but when I tried to start it after it was a slow death from idle which is what gave me the idea it was a fuel problem, but I will check it out.
