carb work

my 78 F150 has a 351m in it, and currently has a two barrel carb in it, what would the advantages and disadvantages of putting a four barrel on it, also, what cfm should i be running on that.

You really don't need a 4bbl on a 351M, or even a 400 for that matter. It's just too much carb really for a stock motor. The stock motorcraft 2150 is a great little carb for these motors. They're right in the sweet spot. Now, if you were to rebuild that motor, then i would say go 4 bbl. But then again, you have to realise. These really arent high revving motors. So you dont need that much carbueration. Check out www.projectbronco.com and go to the 351M/400 section. This issue is discussed many times there. I would do a search for it. hope this helps.
