I have a supercab and when I was installing the antenna wire for my XM I noticed that the hinges on the back seats were covered in powdery surface rust. Can someone else check theirs to see if it's just mine? It looks as though that rust could easily start rubbing off on the seat when it's in the upright position.
yea someone found rust on the glovebox parts. you could probably do a search for it. there was a long discussion. basically they store all the stuff outside before it hits the assembly line and a lot of the stuff gets some surface rust from the elements.
Just got back from the dealer, said it was common (compared it to the seat rails and rust found there). Still, knowing it's there bothers me so a weekend project may soon commence pulling and painting those parts.
I found it after getting a powdery dust on some papers crammed in there. Several others also found it. To solve the problem, some members have painted it, others pass it off as normal. Some dealers will paint it for you. There are pictures in my gallery that show it. I would guess your rust is along the same line.
I do not consider rust anywhere inside the cab of a $35,000 vehicle acceptable. JMO.
