I have a 97 F150xlt extcab 4x4, it has the 4.6l with manual 5 speed.
My question is about fumes in the mornings driving to work, I can see
it comming from vents and defrost, but I'm not seeing any leaks, and the
coolant level hasn't dropped. Thanks for any advice.
Yes,I'm pretty sure it's anti-freeze.I was just hoping there might be something I could do to fix it,rather than pulling the dash out to replace the core.I can NOT
believe Ford engineers designed something like that.
Mine went bad (98 e350 superduty class c rv). I was just wondering if you had your radiator serviced lately? I had mine done and the following spring, after not running the rv over the winter, my heater core failed. I have been trying to figure if the shop used some aluminum unfriendly stuff to clean out the radiator.
thanks, john.
No, I've not had service done on radiator,I've drained it myself and replaced anti-freeze/water mix.I don't understand how a heater core can just "go bad" .
Did you replace yours yourself?
Heater cores do sometimes just "go bad" and start to leak.
Yes it's a pain to replace and I'd like to have a few words with whoever designed the heater on quite a few Fords.
I haven't replaced mine yet. When it happend this spring, I bypassed it and planned on changing it this fall after using the rv this summer. I just lost the engine and can't help but wonder if there was a connection. When I pulled over there was compression going into my overflow tank. It gets towed here tommarrow so I can start tearing it down to find out what happened. I am hoping that it is just a head gasket and nothing else is destroyed.
