Hi, The electric window motor in my 94' bit the dust. I have got a motor out of a wreck and am going to instal it this week. Just looking at it it looks kind of tricky. does anybody know any tricks?
I did the drivers side motor in my 89. the only odd ball thing I had to do was drill a hole thru the metal over one of the mounting bolts so I could get a socket on it. It really wasn't all that hard. You also may want to support the window so it will stay put after you pull out the motor.
On my 1990 f150, there are three bolts holding the motor in place. Only one of them was accessible, but the locations of the other two were marked by dimples in the sheet metal of the door. For one, I drilled the sheet metal out with a 3/4 inch drill bit, for the other one, I used tin snips.
In my case, the motor was still good, it was the plastic gears that were bad--it worked like new after replacing the gears.
I replaced all of the door Panel Retainers before I put the door panel back on because even the ones that weren't broken were stiff and brittle. The generic ones for Ford/Dodge/Chevy worked fine even though they were slightly different lengths (it was all they had in stock).
When I was putting the door panel back on, I had to raise the interior door handle to the up/open position, and I had to pay special attention to make sure the door lock ***** didn't get wedged against the underside of the door panel.
