Engine compression to slow down?

What about the auto trany, will it damage to use compression?

Under normal conditions you should be just fine with a auto, Just not quite as effective as the manual.

I know that Dodge is telling guys to remove their exhaust brakes if they have automatics. They claim they're eating torque converters.

I see what shorthair is saying, but I just brought my 6.9 down the pass last night with my heavy 12' wood camper on the back and 3500 lbs of boat in tow and I will go out on a limb and say a 460 couldn't have slowed it down any better. I only tapped the brakes about 3 times (that's with a C-6).
