I picked up an '86 Bronco with a rebuilt 302 last weekend that has been sitting since January because it wouldn't start. Both fuel pumps have been replaced, and it has good pressure on the fuel rail, and it has good spark. The ignition and all electronics have been moved to toggle switches. If I give it a shot of starting fluid it runs for a second and then dies. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
are you serious about toggle switch????? That's not a very good idea because any voltage spike will ruin the PCM.
here's something for you to check easily.
Check TPS for 5 volts. If you got no voltage or more than 5 volt. check for bad ground connection or your PCM is fried!
Ground connection could be from engine block to firewall, heavy black wire from PCM 60 pin connector to ground source and black wire from harness to negative battery cable or battery post.
Just remember, its only can only be 3 things basically....air, fuel, spark...you say you have spark, and i imagine you have air (DURRRR ;P) and you say it runs a for a sec with some spray dibbidy doo stuff so obviously your not getting fuel.
