I am looking into swapping out the 302 and 3 sped manual in my 1970 F100, for a 360 that is sitting in a truck in one of my neighbours feilds. It belongs to the 67-72 family and has a 4 speed manual tranny that I would also like to swap into my truck. Unfortunatly my truck has the low hump in the floor so I dont know if the tranny will fit under the floor- if anyone can tell me that it will fit or for that matter what, if any, other manual transmissions will fit in my truck.
the tranny hump in your floor may still unbolt, if it does you can swap the tranny humps out.
if it doesnt you still have 2 choices. first cut the shifter hole in the floor, the remove the stick from the 4 spd tranny. if you are going in motor and tranny together it will slide in pretty easy, may take a little persuasion, but it will go.
if you are putting the motor in then the tranny it will still go, but takes a little more persuasion.
OK, so assuming the tranny hump wont unbolt- it might but that would mean that I have to get new carpet to cover the bigger tranny hump- I can get anything to fit if I just cut the hole for the shifter properly?
yep it will go in. it is a tight fit, and you may have to massage the floor a little to get it in. i have done it but it has been a few years, i only do automatic now. yes i am very lazy anymore.
