Whenever I have to kick it down from 5th or 4th to second gear I hear and feel a clunk from the transmission when it goes into gear. It feels like its coming from under my feet.
34K and the U-joints are tight. It doesn't sound like its coming from under the center of the truck. Instead it sounds like its coming from the area under the gas pedal.
Update:
The service manager went with me to recreate the problem. He verified that he heard the same sound I did, then rode with the tech. Tech did a Tranny fluid change (My dime), then produced a bulletin describing exactly what I heard. "...a clunk or bang is heard when coasting to 20-5 mph and then shifting down to second gear while accelerating rapidly...".
I hope this doesn't bite me in the...........future.
