Has anyone had any trouble ( cops) with your window tints.. i put 20% on the fronts and it is about the same as the back windows so not too dark. I also heard its is not good to use window cleaners with ammonia in it such as windex? Post your thoughts..
P.S. if anyone is interested to see how it looks, ill have some pictures of before/after to refer to.
My current ruck has rear tint only, but my last truck had limo black everywhere but the windsheild. Ca. cops are notorious for being sticklers for tint restrictions, but my experience says as long as you're not doing anything stupid to draw attention to yourself, they'll leave you alone. About the amonia: they do say not to use it as it can harm the tint, stick to watered down distilled white vinegar. Works like a charm and dirt cheap.
I've had my F 250 CC SD for 6 months here in FL. The back slider is 20% on top of factory same with the 2 back doors. The D/P side windows are 3%. 30% on the whiole windshield with a 3% strip across the top. Tinted windshields are the way to go. No oncoming traffic headlight glare. Especially on rainy nights. I know what you're thinking...how do you see?? Well unless I told you, you'd never have a clue that it is tinted because the rest of the truck is so dark. It's so much cooler in there also. I mean just think about how much glass your windshield is! It also saved UV rays on the dash. It's great for security. I could go on and on! I live across the street from the PD and my truck is in plain sight all day long and not one officer has even batted an eye. So I guess it's just karma.
my buddy actually did it for me. its relatively easy but u need to buy a roll of film to do it yourself (and thats expensive!). If you take it to a auto glass shop they should do it for $90-100 for both of the big side windows. that sounds expensive i know but the film is like 300$ a roll and does about 50 windows depending how big they are. if u do come across some film let me know and ill give you the how-to. thanks, scott.
I can get som film. My friend owns an auto parts store. I am not gonna say that I will get it real cheap but for better than retail. I would like a little how-to if you do not mind. I would greatly appreciate it. How long will it take me? Also will I have to let it sit or can I drive it after I am completed.
It will take you an hour to do both side windows if you take your time.. the most important thing to do it clean your windows.. GOOD! anything will show between the tint and glass.
to do it 100% correctly, you will need to make a mixture of water and soap (ask an expert what kind) and constantly keep the window drenched in water the whole time so u can move the tint without it sticking.
if you are using the film from a roll, sit it on top or your cab and pull the sheet down over the top (outer side of the window) and cut it out to fit the window leaving a verry little extra on bottom to push down inside the door. if you make any creases or tears just start over cuz they cant be fixed.
once you have it cut, move the piece of film to the inside of the window (which must be drenched) and match it all up, smooth out all bubbles with a squeeqie or whatever, and make each corner rounded, cuz points at the tip might catch the window sill.
those are pretty basic instructions, hope they help... you will be able to drive once youve done them but dont roll down your windows for 2-3 days. my suggestion: let the sun hit them as much as possible (it will get rid of any tiny bubbles you werent able to get out yourself.
let me know how things go if you decide to give it a try.

That's way too high a price! I got mine tinted all the way around, including the top strip of the windshield for $70. I would recomend trying it out with some cheap tint it its your first time, as it does take some practice to get a professional result and you can't have ANY dirt on the window or it will show. I tried it out on my old Chevy and it was ok, but I wanted it done right on my Ford so I took it to a shop (plus they should give you a warranty too).
