No Spark!!!

I have an 89 F150 Manual (302) FI with a distributer mounted ICM. I've changed the coil, tested the ICM, I have juice everywhere i'm supposed to (I think). Whoops, forgot a little back ground. My trucks ignition has a button on it, you have to turn it to the start position and then press a button under the dash to turn it over. When checking the coil with a test light I have solid juice, the light doesn't go out like it is supposed to. Could it be possible there is a problem in the steering colum with the key? Is there a ground there that could have worked itself loose that is causing the problem? Truck hasn't sat for any period of time, just died one day driving down the road as if I ran out of gas. (Had a full tank :>) Just not getting a spark. My mechanic is loosing his hair quickly. Thanks for any advise.

As long as the key(or whatever switch you have) is in run, then you should have solid power to the coil positive. When the engine is cranked, the "tach" or negative of the coil should blink on and off. Put your positive meter lead on the negative of the coil and the negative meter lead on ground. The voltage should go on and off as the engine spins. You did do the screwdriver test to check for spark at one of the sparkplug wires?

Something else that is overlooked sometimes is to take the dist cap off and crank the motor. Make sure the rotor spins around. You may have a mechanical problem if it doesn't.

Thanks, it turned out to be the ICM, I had it tested and it came back good, yet when we still had no luck we just decided to replace it to rule it out completly, and once the new one was in, fired right up. Thanks for the help.
