99 Mountaineer

FTE,
What does it take to bump a 99 mountaineer up 2 inches. This All wheel drive/cv joint stuff has me baffled. Is it as easy as resetting the torsion bars and adding a 2 inch block to the rear leafs?.
Also the side to side whip on the suspension especially when driving through drive pans kills me. Is that a by product of a dinky 4x4?
I would like to run 32-10.5 tires and replace the stock shocks with something equivalent to my rs9000's on my superduty.
Suggestions please.
Appreciative.

Skinny dude always driving a 3/4 ton ford pickup.

I think lifting anything Expl. like is a bad idea, especially a Merc Mountaineer. Merc's are meant to be a cushy ride to get you to the cabin or through some snow and ice...not a full blown off-road toy.

Just my point of view. :-X23

I would think the side-to-side problem you mention would be worse if lifted.

I would like to lower my 98 explorer v8 awd because it is too stiff and the front appears to sit higher than the rear. I was wondering if I could just have the torsion bars reset for that too.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 04-Jun-02 AT 04:16 PM (EST)]You can lower an X in the front by doing a torsion bar twist. Then have the front realigned and have the cambers adjusted too. Put 2" blocks on the back, and it levels out the X very nicely. A good set of swaybars makes a hell of a difference in the shifting left and right feeling also.

Here is a link to Steeda's sway bars:
