Mirror removal

Anyone tell me how to take the mirror head assembly off the mounting plate for a 2002 F-150? The plate that mounts to the door is cracked and I have another complete mirror assembly that I would like to change out just the plate with. Thanks

Did you figure it out yet?
I dont think it's made to come apart like that. Usually the whole mirror gets replaced.

hey born,
the mirror is one piece, but easy to replace the whole mirror! Remove the door panel, theres the plastic piece called the sail that runs up the door to the top, ( by the edge of the door, it completes the trim of the panel, with your fingers at the top of the sail grip it and pull it off it has three clips, theres a screw behind it. Then theres a trim piece behind the door handle, called a soap dish, pry that off with flat head, theres a screw behind that. the panel has slots and tabs. the door panel should lift up and out. depending on which model be aware of the door light bulb. spin that out. there should be 3 bolts that hold the base of the miror on, be careful not to drop the bolts in the door, or you'll be going fishing. Then just put everything back together in reverse, I hope this helps! Dskarl
