I have a 1977 302 that I want to install in my 50 F-1. Problem is that the various brackets and fan on the front make the engine length too long. It has a massive bracket on the front with the alternator, P/S pump and A/C compressor. In addition it has a waterpump, fan with clutch that sticks out well in front of the block.
Untimately I want to have an alternator and possibly an aftermarket A/C compressor. Is there anyway to strip this puppy down to shorten the overall length? I would like to keep a mounted waterpump and fan. A friend says you can get a shorter waterpump but I don't know where.
Ford Motorsports {or whatever they are called now} makes a shorter water pump and other parts for doing just what you describe.
