transmission troubles
Creeping along pulling a hay trailer in the field when the transmission stops. When we get out and look, all of the transmission fluid is coming from the bell housing. Transmission is an E4OD with no previous problems, serviced 4000 miles ago. Any suggestions? Thanks

You probably blew your front pump seal. I did mine on 2002 F250 4X4 CC backing a load of shingles up a driveway. It is pretty typical to due when you are backing up. Mine was done under warranty and the dealer fixed it but it was a bitch. They did not replace the trans, just the front pump seal and the torque converter. I made Ford give me an extended warranty up to 75K on the trans and truck. It took me 3 months to work out all the kinks (long story).

Thanks for the reply. I am hoping it will be that simple. I use it pulling trailers quite a bit. The truck is a '96 350. I am just glad it was at home in the field rather than on the interstate with a load of cows or pregnant mares. I guess there is a bright side to everything. Thanks again.

Mot a problem. Mine went 100 miles from home, I had my dog and a friend with me. Ford could not tow me home, The next day my friend showed up with his Excursion. We loaded my turck onto a 16' car trailer and towed it home. The pictures are classic.
