Transmission compatibility
Can someone tell me if the Manual transmission from a 2000 F150 will mate up with a 1998? The engines in both are 4.2L V6's. I called the parts department at a Ford dealer and they informed me that their computer shows the same Mazda M50D-R2 designation for both years, however their part number is different. The transmission that I am considering purchasing is nearly a thousand miles from here, so if anyone can provide me this info, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Cristopher and welcome 
I cant think of anything that would be different but there might be something. An easy way to find out is to contact a local wrecking yard and ask them to look in their interchange manual. It tells what years and models or parts fit what.
