Has anyone had an OBD code of 0402 (Excessive Flow EGR Valve) end up being anything other than a bad EGR Valve? 99 Expy runs great, but this is the second time I have got that code. If so were you able to clean it up, or was a replacement necessary?
Jim, thanks for all that info. Now to throw this thing into utter confusion, as I was just out with the truck, a new code just appeared - P1406. Not sure if that narrrows it down, or increases the possibilities.
Well, pulled the EGR Valve tonite, very little carbon, and was able to move the valve itself with a needle nose pliers, and it (by feel anyway) seems good. Not sure what to look for with regard to the DPFE sensor. After clearing the codes today, withing about 10 minutes, I got the P1406 code again. Auxiallary blada blada bla. Any ideas?
Dave, Thanks. I am kind of leaning that way too. Vehicle seems to run fine, not sure if I am using slightly more fuel, but hard to tell as this things always uses too much. Any idea on the cost of of the DPFE sensor? Original code was excessive flow thru the EGR, after clearing that, this P1406 code has come on. I cleared it but it returned in no time. All the hoses look good.
