I was going down the street to the gas station,& my truch killed.coasted in,pumped gas, started,& kept missing,& killing, like it is not getting enough fuel? Then when I got it to go,it ran fine for about 2-3 miles, than started cutting out & mising .I had to drive 3 miles home holding my breath while the engine kept cutting in & out till I got home.then I let it sit for about 10 min, than it started right up & ran fine, then I shut it down,& left it there for today.I am gonna check the fuel pressure this morn.
Anyone have any ideas or tips?
Thanks,
you ran the tank empty. Sometimes trash (contamination) accumulates in the gas tanks, you run the tanks dry the pumps have no choice but to suck up the trash. The first thing I would do is change fuel filters & see if that helps out.
I stored my Triumph one winter - and it snowed 4 feet. That spring the car would run for 15 mins then stall. It would start about a half-hour later.
I had a transparent fuel filter on the car and noticed that the fluid looked separated inside. Turns out there was almost a liter of water in the tank. I tried adding alchohol to absorb it but(as I remember alchohol absorbs 50% of it's own volume in water and still burns)it took forever for the car to run normally.
If you have water in the gas drain the tank!
