Extended cranking when hot

I've noticed a number of times, especially when towing, when the motor is hot I often have to crank the engine a lot longer to get it to start. It takes long enough that I think it's not going ot start, then all of a sudden it will.

Someone (not an expert) said that he thought it is due to the oil being thinner and not building up pressure to work the injectors as fast. ??? Reading these posts I've read about overfull oil causing problems, could it be this??? Doesn't read overfull though.

Any opinions??? Any way to fix??? Anyone else with this problem???

Thanks for the help.

No, the oil is at the top of the hash marks that says it is full, but not over that. This place has changed a lot over the last few years, with fires and all.

You need to drain the oil way down into the hatch marks. These things need to be low to prevent foaming of the oil; the injection system picks up air, and the injectors do not fire properly with air in the system. This is most likely the source of your problem; drain the oil down until it is in the hatch marks on the dipstick and see if it helps.

I was up at my dads for the fire....it was scary, he lives on 45th street we lost allot of homes all around him...so sad. I have never in my life heard a roar like that. a fire storm, there was fire ***** the size of houses in the air from Canyon Road going over my head…it was real horrible and remarkable at the same time.
You did not loose your home did you?

Follow PSD 60L's advice on the oil, he is spot on

Actually, I did lose my home. I work for LA Police and was working on the neighbors house while mine burned down. All I was left with was a uniform. Had to go clothes shopping in my burned uniform in Santa Fe. That got some looks.
