I just wanted to let ya'll know whats happened since I last posted.

I have a rental, through my dealer. They went through a rental company, and I got a Chrysler Sebring. Kinda figured they'd give me a Ford, but I guess I can't complain-I'm not paying for it! They gave me the option of a Toyota or a Chrysler, and I can't bring myself to drive a Toyota. Sorry if anyone is a Toyota lover. Hubby is a Union man and He'd have skinned me alive if I came home in a foreign car.

Anyway, my Ford dealer is taking care of it-hauling it back to Indy, my rental, etc. It should be ready by the end of the week, assuming they get the last few parts they need in. Otherwise I can pick it up the first of the week.

Thanks so much for all the replies to my OT-I really believe going in there with what knowledge I had gotten from this forum helped me.

Thanks again-especially Buzzard!!!

Tamara

Great news Tamara. I agree that going in "well informed" is the key to successful negotiations. Please let us know how everything turns out.

....oh, and you're welcome.

Tamara, I'm glad to see thing appear to be working out for you. Considering I too live in Indiana and have a few friends in the business, let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Thanks, hkiefus! I appreciate it!
Funny story-my mom's fiance knows the sales manager there, and called him this afternoon to thank him for helping us-the sale manager wanted to know who in the he!! I was and how I knew so much about this particular problem. He said everytime one of the service people got off the phone with me, he had to listen to them talk about me and how smart I was. He said they were all in awe of what I knew. He also said if I ever decided I was tired of being a housewife, I had a job at the dealership-in the service department! HA! I got a kicked out of that, and so did my hubby. Hubby said after watchinghelping him( I helped a little, but not much!) him rebuild his old 350 in his old hunting truck I should know what I am talking about. Well, that and reading all the info ya'll gave me!
I got a chuckle out of that-made me feel pretty good!

ETA-they wanted me to call the rental company and ask to be switched into a Ford when one became available. When I called they didn't have anything, but called back later and told me they had something they could get me into-it wasn't a Ford, but was a Ford product. They switched me to an 04 Lincoln LS. If I wasn't such in love with my Expy, I may have to get one of these-this sucker's sweet!

Great, I'm glad things worked out. My dad was a Ford dealer and I spent my high school years in the service dept. Your post should be required reading for anyone on dealing with the establishment. My wife drives a Lincoln LS, I too, really like driving it. We have the best of two worlds.
