We are getting ready to change the glow plugs in our 95 F-250. I have read that while we have the heads off we should change the O-Rings at the same time. Can someone explain this a little more. Are these the Fuel Injector O-Rings? Is this a necessary repair.
Because I have not posted 15 times this sight will not allow me to send E-Mails to get the links I have seen written about.
Guess we should be glad we have not had 15 problems as yet.
Thanks

When you say heads off, you really only mean just the valve covers??? Right???
And yes while the "heads" are off change the injector o-rings. If you do a search in the forum you will find plenty of links to what you need to know.
You also asked if this was a necessary repair. It's a bigger job than merely replacing the glow plugs, but considerably easier in the driveway than on the side of the road. When the O-rings decide to go south, you don't always get enough notice to schedule a repair for a day off. I've heard that it's something you want to do on a preventive basis every 100000 miles. Mine went out at 135000, and I had to be towed home from over 100 miles away.
Yes, Kwik, I should have said valve covers. That was a brain flaculatism.
John, thanks for the advice. I will.
Quad, this is a preventitive maint thing of sorts. Just 98,000 miles on it. We live at 8,600 ft elev in CO and have lost probably more than one glow plug. Must plug into elect to warm it up before going to P.O. every day even now that it is 75 in the afternoon.
Mar we just changed the gas filter and the fuel bowl was clear and clean.
We have the glow plugs and will replace the O-Rings at the same time as you advised. Finding O-Ring info for the 95 f-250 in the forum is a hoot, but will do the searches, as advised.
We are retired and have friends with a tow service/small repair shop, but have never done glow plugs. My husband tells me what to ask and I do the typing.
Being retired and on disability we just can not afford repairs at major service centers.
John, I know I dont have enough posts but really need to be able to send emails or IM for the quick links that are available out there. You can tell I am not a spammer. I am to dumb for that LOL Is there any way to get around this rather harsh requirement without starting my own web page??

Spend some time on here and make a few posts to get you to 15. I'm sure if you browse the other forums there will be something you are interested in.
Thanks Johnsdiesel,
Since I can not give advice because I know very little, I will post STUFF of no signifigance so I can get past the 15 post limit. Dont mean to seem trite. Just Posting.
Thanks
Just checked and only needed this last post so I could meet my 15 quota. I feel like I am wasting your time by doing this but seems a necessary evil.
Thanks for your patience.
Boogerbutt, not wasting anybody's time - we do what we have to. I have seen MANY posts on the forums I frequent that are waaaaay more useless than these to fill the quota. You are actually accomplishing something.
I'm glad you got to the number for eMail. I sent you an eMail and if you reply with the information you would like I will reply to you with attachments for what I have.
Glad to have you aboard, my friend.

Well we changed the O-Rings today and it was a snap. 3 1/2 hours 2 people. Will not plug in tonight to see if it worked. LOL
Opted not to change out the injector O-Rings as we have seen no signs these are giving us any problems.
Did find the O-Ring where the oil dip stick enters the oil pan was not seated. New O-Ring there.
Once again thanks for all of your help.
