Question cold start problem

I have a F150 1988 with a 302 automatic transmission. I do not have a check engine light and I do not have any stored codes. I have replaced the Iac and the fuel pressure regulator. I did a vacuum test at idle and the vacuum gage was steady at 18 with slight movement to 18.5 and remaind there. I have replaced the high pressure fuel pump because the old one was maintaining the the bare minimum pressure required. The symptom does not change with either gas tank. Once it does start the truck will die if i don't step on the throtle and keep the rpm's up. To get it started I turn the key on and listen for the high pressure pump to cycle. I do this twice I turn the key to start it the third time and it will start. It seems to be worse in the summer and better in the winter. It seems to like below 60 degrees or less. I have checked the fuel presure in the morning after it has sat overnight and the presure meets the requirements in the Haynes manual. Any other suggestions would be welcomed it is a mystery that is eating my lunch.

Timing is a good thing to check here, also you cycle the fuel pump and it starts? If it does what is the pressure for one cycle, two etc? Possible you may have a blockage or leak somewhere. If you have duel tanks, make sure the selector valve works, i beleive there is a way to bypass it. good luck

Also did you change the fuel filter when you changed the pump?

cold start

Although the directions said to replace the fuel filter I didn't at the time. I had changed the fuel filter a month earlier hoping that was my problem. The symtoms were the same after the fuel pump was replaced and after the pump was replaced.
