I have a 69 f100 and I am tired of the look of the speakers I have hanging down from the bottom of the dash by gas tank straps. I just have two 6x9's So, what are some ideas for relocating the speakers? I really don't want to cut the doors, and I still have the in cab gas tank so there isn't much room behind the seat. Has anyone ever made a custom box that sits over the hump but far enough towards the front so there is enough room for a person to sit in the middle and still have their feet on the floor.
any input is welcome but i really don't want to have to do anything that would require cutting up my truck.
thanks for any help
brad
I am currently building a small speaker box to fit over the center hump against the firewall. It will house two 5 1/4 inch speakers. I am also custom building surface mount speaker enclosures to fit on the B-pillar. Lastly, I plan to install a subwoofer enclosure under the seat.
I agree with 68crewF350. I had planned on putting bucket seats in and custom building a box as a console with a 6X9 positioned so that they were angles up towards the driver and passenger.
I have a 69 F-100 with the bench seat. I am thinking about putting 6x9's in boxes behind the seat, in the back of the seat facing the back of the cab then put a small sub under the seat, in the seat, facing the floor. I listen to country and rock so I think I'll get the accoustics I need for that with that configuration.
debestuss... nice truck. I like the color. Cool daschund dog too, my wife is trying to talk me into buying one over here in Germany. A retired Army guy has a kennel in Geibelstadt, Germany. He's charging like 700 bucks though, and I just can't bring myself to buy one.
Back o the truck... awesome gift. I gave mine (the one in my gallery) to one of my former soldiers when they returned from Iraq in April. I was at Fort Polk, Louisiana at the time and on orders for Germany. He is originally from Natchez, Mississippi, so only about 2 hours away from Polk. So, he's got it and hopefully working on it. I hated to get rid of it. I love all 67-72 F100/250's. But the 69 (year I was born) is my favorite and this one was a shortbed, 4 speed and 4X4. In my humble opinion...the perfect truck. Oh well, such is life. Hopefully he'll take care of it.
Thanks SFC Davis. I'm diligently working to bring up her up right. You're an awesome NCO to give a truck to one of your soldiers. Iraq was bad, he deserves it. I'm assigned to the NCO Academy at Ft. Rucker, AL in the Air Traffic Control Development Cell. My name is SSG Wallace White. Pleasure to meet you.
debestuss...thanks for the compliment. If you ever come over to Heidelberg, Germany, look me up. I'm the Provost Sergeant for the MP Station here. Pleasure to meet you as well and I love your truck.
