I have a 98 Explorer V-6 and durng warm weather I get a loud whine coming from my air intake near the mass flow sensor. Has anyone else had this problem and if so did replacing the sensor fix the problem??
I have a '95 and in hot weather I get a humming noise . it almost sounds like a muffled car horn.
the noise comes from my air intake and I thought I would be an idiot and waste $200 on a new mass air flow sensor.
needless to say it solved nothing.
I have had the humming noise for about 2 years now. a few mechanics looked at it and basically said since they cant track it down then ignore it. after a few months I realized that they are probably right.
My mileage is 16.5 in new york city traffic so i don't think anything is really wrong.
and from now on I'm only changing sensors if the computer says something is wrong, or I really have something to go on
