Recently the check engine light came on in my '97 f-150, the next day it went off again, so I though it may have somehow worked itself out. No such luck, a few days later it came on again and has been on since. Does anyone know the prodcedure for performing the self diagnostic and then a list of the codes to determine the problem? Thanks for the help.
I stopped by auto-zone yesterday and as soon as I pulled into the lot the check engine light went off!! I decided to get it diagnosed anyway just in case the engine code was still in the computer. The code readout was P0133 which if I remember right is a slow oxygen sensor response or something like that. The guy at auto-zone said that I should try replacing the oxygen sensor first and see if that solves the problem. If not, he suggested that I may have to replace the wiring going to the o2 sensor. Would this be something fairly easy to replace myself or should I just take it into the garage? Thanks for everyones help. By the way fourthfordtruck, it is the 5.4 with about 60,000 miles. Thanks
