Hey Krosati

The wife and I want to know what kind of wood you used Saturday when you cooked the brisket. She put a cooker like yours on the list of things I need to get soon and liked the flavor the wood added.

Live Oak. We cut it down after a sever t-storm split several limbs from the weight. The trunk on this tree was about 5 feet thick at the ground and we salvaged over 3 cords of wood for ourselves.
Let me know when you get the pit, I'd like to try out your first meal.

Sure enough. If only the neighbor down the street would stay gone long enough for me to "trim" their tree.

Good One. After a few weekends of inviting them over to eat, ask him what's been eating his beautiful Oak tree and you've noticed it's been getting a little thin!

Krosati.... Thanks for the invite to your home, sorry I couldn't make it. One of the problems with being such a big state is the distance problems with get-togathers. I appreciate your efforts and hope members will keep trying.

That's alright, I'm not offended that noone else came over, I just wish it could have been a bigger event. The main reason for offering up my house was because a lot of the Texas users seem to be in the Austin, Dallas, and Houston Triangle. So I figured we would at least have a meet as quickly as possible with a dozen or so members to abide by the conditions Ken set up for the State chapters. Now that we have the 'Official' 1st one out of the way, we can start planning the next on, say in Austin or Brady so we can get a few more members to drop in.
