spark pug wires
whats the easiest way to check spark plug wire i got a p0305 code wich is #5 cylinder misfire so i think its some thing to do with my sparking system t's a 97 aerostar replaced spark pugs today and did fix the probem i dropped in some bosch platinum + 4's in so now i wanna check my wires

You can test the resistance of the wires. But, since each wire is a different length the resistance will vary. I have them written down at home and can post them tomorrow. Another way is to purchase a set, test the resistance of those and compare with your wires. If yours are within specs, return the new set.

You can check for them arcing and whatnot by parking your van at night in a dark area. Pop the hood and start the engine. VERY CAREFULLY look around your engine bay and see if the wires are arcing or not. If you see little sparks then you KNOW you NEED NEW wires. Good luck!

Regular pulg wires cost about $23.00. They need to be replaced about every 30 to 50,000 miles or checked with an ohm meter for a given resistance per foot, if one is bad replace them all. It is such a pain to do the wires in an Areostar that if I thought it needed done just buy new ones and skip checking the old ones.
