tranny question
i have a 1988 f150, 4.9, 4 spd w/od, it is a 4x4, would anyone know what kind of tranny i have, i can't find any numbers or tags on the trans. thanks in advance for your help.

Trans code RUG and RTS are for a T170 4speed manual w/ overdrive 4th gear. I don't know if Ford still used that trans after '85 or not. These trans are also known as SROD, SMOD and TOD, depending on the location of the shifter in the different variations of it.

aaahh..you beat me to it.
I was going to say RTS / 170FT [ TOD ] but wasn't too sure that it is available on 88 model year. My 1987 F150 2 wheel drive is RTS trans. I junk it and convert to AOD.
