As i was reading through the threads, someone mentioned a commercial rebate. what is this? I am self employed, and will be using my truck for it; do I qualify? thanks
I am new here and just beginning to look at a new truck for myself so I am not aware of any commercial rebate, but I do know that there is a special tax rule that allows small businesses to accelerate depreciation in the first year on a purchase of a vehicle over 6000 lbs. All of the articles I have read about this talked about the new hummer H2 and they mentioned deductions for depreciation in the first year of up to $38,000. I have an appmt with my accountant next week to learn more about this. I suggest if you have a business, you might want to talk to your tax person about this.

I'm self-employed too. My tax accountant told me if i buy a new E-350 i won't have to pay any IRS taxes for two years. Need to purchase the vehicle by January 1st 2005 or sooner to qualify. I already stopped paying quarterly estimated taxes.

It's called Commercial Connection, and you can get one of 2 rebates if you can prove you own your own business (DBA, copy of liability policy, D&B listing, EIN, sales tax license will work). You can get a flat $300, or if you add at least $1200 worth of after-market equipment to your truck that you need for your business, then the $300 turns into $1000. You can spend the $1200 at the dealer or a supplier of your choosing, just have to supply invoices. Ford won't let you use something you could have ordered from the factory (A/C on an XL, for example), no electronic equipment, or bedliners. Snow plow, winch, spraying equipment, tool boxes, ladder or glass racks, caps, tonneau covers, professionally-installed lettering or graphics- they all qualify.
Jeff, since I will be ordering a truck from you by the end of the month, would I qualify if I bought the equipemnt before the end of the month as well, as long as I do have an order at Ford?
