You stated earlier :

"It's a daily driver and I just want some extra hp without the gas bill so cams are out of the question."

So how can you do that without changing cams?

Well Cams are rated Usually by Mild, Medium, and Wild or Radical. Im sure if you search for a cam for a 3.0 online they will have them. Maybe Crane or Crow Cams? Id try Crow cams first. They will state what the lift and duration is and of corse the power band. Of corse you will want a mild one. But just remember changing one thing may not be all that noticable, its when things are done together you will see the most out of your engine.

well if you choose a radical cam ( the high hp) you probably would have to install helper springs or new springs. But you wont do that since you want good gas milage and you would need extra modifications more than likley. If its a mild cam then that would probably be the only thing. But what im talking about is if you want to see the most out of the cam then the more fuel flow and exhaust flow is obviously better. You have a efi 3.0 im sure. Check online and see if you can buy a chip for your computer of one of those power programers.

Yeah It's efi and I can get a module from superchips for it. But that's about it. I'm also thinking about eventually after I've worn the thing out to swap out for a 302/5.0 I know it'll fit cause I've seen a ranger with a 350 in it and that took some work so a 5.0 should go in with little or no probs. If I do go with a 302 I'm looking for a 93 stang one so all I gotta do is go with factory efi.

The cheapest bolt-on power adder is Nitrous...it's there only when you need it.

Also, is this Ranger equiped with mass air from the factory....if not, you cam choices are going to be very limited.

I could go with nitrous and they do make it for my 3.0 but it's illegal to have it so the trick is hide it were the cops won't notice it for sure. Is there a cool twisted cop in the house willing to help out on this one?

I was mistaken with the engine swaps I took it apon myself to check the legislation on swaps It's only a bill it hasn't been passed yet and if it does it'll be set up like Cali's is. So it'll still work in my favor cause in 93 they were still makin 302/5.0's

Scroll down on the forum directory of this site and go into the ford 3.0 section. There is a topic about camming a 3.0, maybe that will help you.
