I have a single chamber IMCO, which is an exact duplicate of the Flowmaster single, and it is LOUD. I had it on my Cherokee, and had to replace it due to the cabin noise. (See "How can I quieten this muffler?" thread). I gave it a quick test drive out of curiosity, and immediately replaced it.
For anyone wanting a very loud sound, I would recommend these single chambered mufflers over an open pipe. They do soften the tone some, but do little to lessen the decibel level. Be warned that the interior noise level is high. They would be too uncomfortable on a long trip, in my opinion.

Bronconorwood,
I have two chamber Flowmasters that dump out right in front of the axle tubes. One of my pics shows where they are. There's a good bit of cab roar at low speed, none at cruising but it's not my daily driver so I can put up with alot. Would be better if I ran the pipes out the back, but thats another project. I have heard a set of the singles and they are OBNOXIOUS.
I would not recommend them.
Tiremine
I had one on my truck before i put a dynomax bullet on it. It was probably as loud, or just a tad quieter than my bullet. I also have a highflow cat that i replaced the two stock ones with. I had a bit of piping after the flow with a turn down and it sounded pretty good. Also had a 40 series before that, and it seemed the 10 series single was quite a bit louder.
I ran my F250 V10 with straight pipe and I kept my cat with it and it was very loud plus I lost alot of bottom end by cutting out the muffler. I put in a Flowmaster deltaflow 40 series and I love it. I dumped the exhaust out right in front of the pass side rear tire. There is some noise in the cab but nothing compared to the straigt pipe, which I hear is similar to the single chamber flows. Just something to keep in mind.
You lost power? A friend of mine who builds and races 8 cylinder mustangs recommended that I have the cats cut out, a true dual exhaust system built, and single chamber flowmasters with turndowns right after the mufflers. I could have all of this done for about $250, but if I'm going to lose power, maybe I shouldn't?
I believe him with losing power with no muffler. I had no muffler at one time, with a pipe in front of the rear tire, and as soon as i put a muffler on there i got some low-end back. I think that setup with true duals, single chambered flows, turndowns and no cats would be quite a nice setup. I think you'd get some power from it as long you keep the muffs on there.
