E4OD Codes?

E4OD Codes?
I am getting trouble code 98. It says electronic pressure control driver open in eec(e40d). I am also getting code 62. It says converter clutch error(e40d). The tranny in my bronco seems fine to me. The only thing is that it goes into reverse hard and I think it could be a u-joint. The previous owner said he had a shift kit in it. Can you put one in an e40d or his he b.s.ing me? If it does have a shift kit could it be causing these codes? What is an electric pressure control driver and a convertor clutch? Thanks!

With those codes, you may have a very typical E4OD problem. The "torque converter clutch" or TCC is a device that locks the torque converter when possible to eliminate slippage, heat and gas mileage losses. Slippage of this clutch is common and results in a computer signal to the "electric pressure control driver" to compensate buy increasing hyraulic pressure which results in hard shifts.
There are shift kits for electronic transmissions, but they work differently than some older ones, since there is no vacuum modulator. It is possible that a poorly designed or installed shift kit could cause problems, but it is likely that your TCC is weak.

So to fix this problem I would have to replace the whole converter? Where would I find another? Also, I have heard about them being updated over the years, so would I have to look for an updated one? Thanks! Oh, also, would a bad tcc cause my tranny to shift into reverse hard?
