well, for a while no my brakes have been really soft, so I had my mechanic look at it and he said everything was fine... however I didn't believe him because my front hubs were dirty dirty with brake dust my right rear had a little BUT my left rear had none. well to day when I left D&D (dunkin doughnuts) and released the parking brake I heard a loud pop from the rear end nothing really new i've heard it before but this time it was louder. well when I went to brake like I normally did my rear wheels lock up. then since then the brakes have been strong what could have happened??.......needless to say I'm looking for a new mechanic now too.
It seems like no one has any good ideas
Does your truck have rear drums or discs?
I think I'd pull the rear brakes apart and see if there was anything out of place.
Not sure what you have going on, but sounds like you had something stuck in the rear brakes and it broke loose..? I wouldn't let it go at that though. The health of your brakes are necessary, don't find out the hard way. Have a 76 F250 that had soft brakes and one day started working fine, figured...OK... then when brakes were need the most they were NO WHERE to be found. That was during a quick reverse into the driveway. Ended up hitting the telephone pole with the rear end to avoid slamming straight into the front end of my 97 F150. Bent the pole over which caused the power lines to lay on the house, (not a good thing), Hiding the F250 way in the back and calling the electric company and playing dumb as to how the pole got leaned over. Not to mention having to replace a very bent diamond plate rear bumper. Could of been worse. So make sure you have them brakes gone over again.
