Gas Siphoning

I have a boat and would like to siphon gas from my 2000 e150 tank to external 6 gal tanks, I tried doing this the other day but the hose will not go all the way down. Is this possible and if it is what type of mods do I have to do to the gas hose going down to the tank.

there is a full screen in the filler tube. no hose can get in there.

rip out the tube and take out the screen?
